Fujifilm Unveils 3D Digital Consumer Camera

Last week, Fujifilm introduced a 3D camera / display and printing system for the consumer market that could jump start 3D display demand with a plethora of new consumer-driven content. The company’s "FinePix Real 3D System," announced at the European Photokina ‘08 photography conference in Cologne, Germany, could mark the beginning of a brand new 3D digital-photography category. I recently returned from a visit to Taiwan and the 3D Imaging & Display Technology International Conference (3DID) in Taipei. In addition to the papers and exhibits on display at the event, our hosts, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) scheduled visits with CPT and AUO to highlight their activities in 3D displays. 3D Isn't so Easy

I am here in Berlin to attend IFA, but also to attend a small 3D event focused on stereoscopic 3D (S-3D). So far, I have learned some interesting points and seen some interesting demos. I am becoming more and more bullish on the 3D markets, but the show has also reminded me how difficult doing 3D can really be and the dangers the industry faces if it does not do it right this time.
